Bobcats, injury-riddled Harrington part ways

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -The Charlotte Bobcats have declined to pick up a team option on the contract of forward Othella Harrington, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The move Tuesday was no surprise after Harrington missed 71 games in two seasons with the Bobcats due to two surgeries on his left knee. The 34-year-old Harrington played in only 22 games last season and averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds.

The Bobcats also aren’t expected to re-sign unrestricted

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Kobe Bryant will not have surgery on his right pinkie because recovery would take too long.

The Lakers open training camp Sept. 27 and start the regular season at home against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 28.

The 6-10, 228-pound Anderson averaged 1.2 points per game and 1.8 rebounds in five games with the Hornets last season.

Andersen has played six seasons in the NBA and has career averages of 5 points per game, 4.7 rebounds and 1.34 blocked shots in 258 contests.

Andersen began his career after being the first player called up from the NBA Development League in 2001. He played three seasons in Denver before going to New Orleans in 2004.
